Helping Families Create Happy Memories One Birth at a Time
Serving the Denver Metro Area
I started this journey as a Middle School Science teacher
in Kansas City Missouri. My experience as a teacher ingrained in me the
belief that parent and family support should begin well before kindergarten,
and that it should begin with birth. After moving to Colorado in the summer
of 2007 to get married, I decided to change the mode in which I support
parents and their children. After beginning my Labor Doula training with
CAPPA, I quickly expanded into their Lactation Education and Childbirth
Education programs. In an effort to be able to offer comprehensive support,
I became a member of La Leche, and I have completed both the Advanced
Practice Birth Support for the Birth Center and the Birthing From Within
Childbirth Educator and Doula Training.
My philosophy has been greatly influenced by my education background, and I
firmly believe in classes that are interactive, varied, hands-on, and
memorable. As a labor doula, I believe that it is the woman's right and
responsibility to give birth and to become a mother in the best way she
knows how. As your doula, I can help you have an informed and powerful
childbirth that is determined by you. I believe that hospital births, home
births, and birth center births each have a place within the realm of
childbirth; and it is up to you as to what is right for you and will have
the best support for you. I support women of all backgrounds and ages. I
support without judgment and with a careful ear that gives me the
compassion, understanding, and awareness that a doula and educator
needs.
Sincerely,
Nora Nicole Murrell
"It is possible to have an ecstatic birth. In fact, that is the best natural high that I know of.
And these states of consciousness are best reached when a woman is fully aware and fully awake. Women
don't have a way to know how their body works until they really try it out in birth. I think that
women can be just completely surprised by the change in them from giving birth. You have something
powerful in you - that fierce thing comes up and I think babies need moms to have that fierceness. You
feel like you can do anything and that's the feeling we want moms to have."
