Labor Doula
As your labor doula I:
- Service to all places within a 40 minute drive radius around Littleton, Colorado.
- Provide 2-3 pre-natal consultations that can include meeting your care-provider.
- Help you determine the kind of birth you want to have and how you are going to achieve it with
the support of whoever is going to present with your birth.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support starting with the on-set of labor.
- Provide a back-up doula. A good doula always has a back-up plan.
- Help with first latch-on.
- Provide 1-2 post-natal visits.
During labor, I can help to determine pre-labor from true labor and early labor from active labor. At a
point determined by you I will join you and assist you by:
- Helping you to rest and relax.
- Providing support for your partner.
- Encouraging nutrition and fluids in early labor.
- Assiting you in using a variety of helpful positions and comfort measures.
- Constantly focus on the comfort of both you and your partner.
- Helping the environment to be one in which you feel secure, confident, and peaceful.
- Providing you with information on birth options.
- Help preserve your privacy during the first hour after your birth.
I work cooperatively with the health care team. In the event of a complication, I can be a great help
in understanding what is happening and what options you may have.
Breastfeeding 101
Be fully prepared for breastfeeding. Get the facts and have all your questions answered. Breastfeeding
may be natural, but it is a learned art. We will cover questions like: Is my baby getting enough to eat?
What about going back to work? What about formula? How do I do this? What if it hurts? What about being in
public? Your partner is encouraged to attend.
Breastfeeding Individual Classes
If you feel more comfortable not being in a group, I will come to your home and
answer your questions there.
Sex Education
How To Have "The Talk" With Your Teen - Having "The Talk" can be daunting and horrific
for both parents and teens, but it doesn't have to. This class will help you figure out what is important
to you and your family as to what is communicated to your teen. We will cover the current statistics and
resources, but most importantly we will talk about the purpose of "The Talk" and how to succeed
in that purpose while building a solid bridge of communication with your teen.
Childbirth Classes
Childbirth classes prepare you for the rite of passage into parenthood. This
preparation is not entirely about facts and numbers, it is also about the
intangible beliefs that you have regarding birth. Childbirth classes give
you an opportunity to explore pain-coping methods *before* you go into
labor. Pain is an inevitable part of childbirth, but there is a difference
between pain and suffering. We will also cover pre-natal and post-natal
care of both mother and baby.
