I believe that it is the woman's right to give birth and to become a mother in the best way
she knows how. We are surrounded by TV and movies that have told us what birth sounds and feels
like; and at the end of 30 minutes, you have a perfectly pristine mother and baby. Not realistic.
Few of us have actually seen childbirth or experienced childbirth in which the mother is empowered and has
actively chosen how she will labor and birth. Time schedules, checklists, and societal expectations
don't give mothers an empowered birth.
As your doula, I can help you have an informed and powerful childbirth that is determined by you. I believe that hospital births, home births, and birth center births each have a place within the realm of childbirth; and it is up to you as to what is right for you and will have the best support for you.
I support women of
all backgrounds and ages. I support without judgement and with a careful ear that gives me the
compassion, understanding, and awareness that a doula needs.
